Associate Professor Sue O'Malley is the principal consultant and founder of Medical Intelligence in 2003, a consulting business specialising in all areas of Australian health technology assessment (HTA) excluding pharmaceuticals.
Associate Professor O’Malley has worked in biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical devices companies as well as the NSW public service. She holds a Master of Economics and a Doctorate of Philosophy based on a thesis by publication titled ‘Funding issues of new and emerging medical technology in Australia’. She has published widely on the Australian Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) and related Health Economics topics.
Associate Professor O’Malley has over sixteen year’s experience in MSAC Submissions and applications to the Prostheses List Advisory Committee (PLAC). Between July 2012 and July 2015 she held the part-time position of Associate Professor of Health Economics, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Macquarie University. In 2015 she was a member of MSAC’s Evaluation Sub-Committee (ESC).
