Description of Medical Service

Implantation of an upper airway stimulator system. The system includes a respiratory sensing lead that senses breathing patterns. The respiratory sensing lead is linked to an implantable pulse generator that delivers mild stimulation to the hypoglossal nerve via a stimulation lead.

Description of Medical Condition

Obstructive sleep apnoea with an apnoea hypopnoea index greater than or equal to 15, in patients who have failed or are intolerant to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy
