Professor Erica Wood - Biography

Professor Erica Wood AO is head of the Transfusion Research Unit in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. She is a consultant haematologist at Monash Health, and holds an honorary appointment at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. She is immediate past president of the International Society of Blood Transfusion, and co-chair of the WHO Advisory Group on Blood Regulation, Availability and Safety. She serves on Australia’s National Haemovigilance Committee and the TGA Advisory Committee on Biologicals. Erica has served as Chief Examiner (Haematology) for the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. She also served as president of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Blood Transfusion, as president of the International Haemovigilance Network, and was a founding member of the Victorian Blood Matters program advisory committee. Erica is an NHMRC Leadership Fellow and chief investigator of the NHMRC Blood Synergy research program at Monash University.
