Service or technology in this application

Insertion of an active middle ear implant whereby a signal from an audio processor is transmitted to the internal component and transformed into vibrations that stimulate the inner ear via the round window.

Medical condition this application addresses

Patients with mixed and conductive hearing loss. An active middle ear implant is intended for individuals with mild to severe mixed and conductive hearing loss who cannot use or sufficiently benefit from conventional hearing aids. However, these individuals can still benefit from amplification of sound. Patients with conductive hearing loss will have bone conduction thresholds in the normal to severe range. All candidates will currently have speech perception discrimination of at least 50 per cent with appropriately amplified sound.
