Cost of applying

There is currently no charge to apply to the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC). But it does take time and resources to complete an application and meet the requirements of the MSAC process.

No charge to apply

Currently, there is no charge to apply to MSAC. Find out about the proposal to start charging fees.

While there is currently no charge to apply, it does take time to prepare an application. To help you with the process, our secretariat and the relevant policy teams provide support for applicants.

Applications for Prescribed List items

There is currently no charge from MSAC for any applications, including those for Prescribed List items. But you will need to pay fees for your Prescribed List application. To find out more, see the cost recovery fees and charges for the Prescribed List.

PBAC codependent applications

The Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) assesses applications on a cost recovery basis. If your application is PBAC codependent, you will need to pay all relevant PBAC cost-recovery fees.

Proposal to start charging fees

The Australian Government has agreed to a cost recovery framework for MSAC activities. The Department of Health and Aged Care will hold consultations about the design of the framework before implementation.
