Develop ADAR commentary

In this step, your applicant-developed assessment report (ADAR) will be critically reviewed through a commentary. This is for applications on the standard or expedited pathway.

Commentaries take about 10 weeks to complete.

What you need to know

Commentaries are critical reviews of ADARs, for applications on the standard pathway or expedited pathway. Commentaries must:

  • evaluate the approach taken, the evidence and the results
  • review the clinical, economic, financial and usage information.

After receiving your ADAR, our secretariat will contract a health technology assessment (HTA) group to develop a commentary. They normally take about 10 weeks to complete.

  • Integrated codependent applications will have one commentary for both our committee and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) to consider. Our secretariat will contract the same HTA group to evaluate both the medicine and health service components of the ADAR.

For applications on the direct pathway, the critical review of your ADAR will be through an overview paper.

What you need to do
