Respond to DCAR

This step allows you to comment on the department-contracted assessment report (DCAR) for your application before our Evaluation Subcommittee (ESC) considers it.

You will have 15 business days to provide a pre-ESC response.

What you need to know

You can respond to the DCAR for your application after our secretariat receives it from the health technology assessment (HTA) group

Your response to the DCAR is your pre-ESC response.

ESC will consider your response along with the DCAR, the rejoinder (if applicable) and any consultation input.

What you need to do

1. Access the DCAR

About 6 weeks before the ESC meeting, you will receive the DCAR in the Health Products Portal.

2. Review the DCAR

This is your opportunity to correct any factual errors and clarify analyses or interpretations of data in the DCAR.

You should not include extra clinical trial information or substantially amended economic or financial models in your response. Our secretariat will seek the appropriate advice if you provide new evidence in your response.

Your response can include up to:

  • 5 A4 pages of text in Microsoft Word
  • 2 pages of diagrams, graphs and tables.

3. Provide your response

Send your response to our secretariat within 15 business days in the Health Products Portal. To find out how to do this, see uploading your pre-committee response.

Rejoinder

Our secretariat will share your response with the HTA group that developed the DCAR. The HTA group can comment on your response if they choose to – this is called a rejoinder.

Next steps

In the next step, ESC will consider the DCAR in an ESC meeting.
