Suitable applications

Reply to the notification email by the due date to confirm:

  • you want to proceed on the assigned pathway (contact our secretariat if you have any concerns)
  • the proposed meeting dates to consider your application (if feasible, our secretariat will have proposed the same meeting dates you chose in your application form).

If the proposed dates do not work for you:

  1. go to key dates for applicants to see the other meeting dates and the related deadlines
  2. consider which dates suit you
  3. include the dates in your reply email.

Your application manager will discuss with you to agree on the most suitable date.

Next steps

The next steps depend on whether your application is on the standard, expedited or direct pathway.

Standard pathway

In the next step, our secretariat will contract a health technology assessment (HTA) group to draft a PICO confirmation for your application.

About 11 weeks before the PICO Advisory Subcommittee (PASC) meeting at which your application will be considered, our secretariat will also publish:

This will start consultation on your application.

Expedited or direct pathway

For applications on the expedited or direct pathway, this step ends the pre-assessment phase. The assessment phase of the MSAC process will not begin until an assessment report is lodged for your application. If:

  • you plan to lodge an applicant-developed assessment report (ADAR) – the next step is to develop an ADAR
  • our secretariat has agreed to a department-contracted assessment report (DCAR) – they will contract an HTA group to develop a DCAR.
